BIO
Dane Brown is a multidisciplinary artist based out of Atlanta, Georgia . After leaving Jamaica at a young age and being raised in the Bronx, he takes an expansive look at the diversity of black culture and identity throughout the globe.
Even though he started drawing on and off as a young adult, he didn't take art seriously until 2009 when he started taking online classes first at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, then at Academy of Art University. Even though his studies was in 2D and stop animation his schooling gave him a chance to learn a variety öf digital and traditional mediums.
That exploration of different mediums stuck with him outside of school as he has worked with everything from painting, to craving, to collages. Even though he tends to blend all of these mediums in unique ways, he primarily uses woodburning, pen drawings, and glass artworks as the base for his visual story telling.
And as the story of what it means to be black in an ever-changing cultural engorged, figurative reflects the transformation in black introspection.
